FAQ

Custom inground pools, answered.

The five questions Carolina homeowners ask most before starting a build.

How much does a custom inground pool cost in NC or SC?
Custom concrete (gunite) pools start around $95,000 and most Carolina builds land between $120,000 and $250,000 turnkey, with vanishing-edge and estate-scale projects reaching $400,000+. Fiberglass pools start around $60,000 and most installs run $75,000–$140,000 turnkey. Both ranges include the pool, equipment, decking, and start-up - not just the shell.
How long does it take to build an inground pool?
Concrete pools take 14–22 weeks from contract to swim, including permitting, excavation, shotcrete cure, tile and coping, deck, equipment set, and interior finish. Fiberglass installs run 8–12 weeks because the shell is manufactured off-site. Weather, HOA review, and inspection scheduling are the usual swing factors - we build that contingency into your written schedule on day one.
Concrete or fiberglass - which is right for me?
Choose concrete if you want a fully custom shape, depth, vanishing edge, raised spa, or any non-standard feature, and you plan to keep the pool 20+ years. Choose fiberglass if you want a faster install, lower long-term maintenance, and you're happy with one of the manufacturer's pre-engineered shapes. The cost ranges overlap in the $80k–$140k zone, so the decision is usually about design freedom and timeline, not price alone.
Can I finance a custom pool build?
Yes. We work with Lyon Financial, HFS Financial, and LightStream - all of which offer soft-pull pre-qualification that doesn't affect your credit score. Most Carolina pool loans run 10–20 years; monthly payments on a $120,000 build at current rates typically land between $900 and $1,400. What's actually included in a Rock Water build?
Every build includes engineered structural plans, photoreal 3D design, soil and site analysis, licensed and insured crews, Pentair or Hayward equipment, a premium interior finish (StoneScapes, PebbleSheen, polished quartz, or plaster), smart pool automation, and on-site start-up with owner orientation. Quotes are itemized and fixed-scope before any material is ordered - the only change orders are ones you choose to add.
